Default icon fonts

I'm pretty sure this is not a tech thing, but I don't know who else to ask. A while back, I had changed the font color on the desktop icons to white because I had a dark background. Now I want to put a picture up with a white background and of course the white font gets lost. I've forget how I did it and I'm hoping all you techies can help.

Thanks!

If you go into the control panel, double-click display, then click on the appearance tab, then click advanced... you should be able to change the default font color in there.

Well, I did that (except I took the short cut and just right clicked on the desktop and selected properties) and that's where I've been trying to do it. Just for shits and giggles, I tried everything in the drop down menu, even the ones I knew wasn't it and it's not there.

Could always try setting it to the default theme instead of the modified one

Rightclick | Properties | Apperance | Advanced | select the dropdown and find "icons" -->1 problem tho..i dont think you can change it there, and the default color is white, with no option to change? odd....

Well, try the others from the dropdown i guess

I tried icons first and the part to change color is greyed out. Yeah, it's very odd. I just don't get it.

The only thing I can suggest is:

Right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced Tab>Click Settings Under Performance>Click the custom bubble>Scroll down to "Use Drop Shadows for Icon Labels"

Uncheck the box.

The other thing you can try is: Right click desktop>properties>Desktop Tab> Change the background color from the drop down box. If your background picture is white, change the color to white which causes WinXP to automatically change the font color of icons to the opposite of the background color you chose (white) to black.
